This week's topic is:
Back to school or Not back to school -
That's the question
That's the question
#1 When you're in it, you want to get out of it. And when you're out of it you think maybe it wasn't so bad. A clear case of The grass is always greener on the other side.
#2 German kids get a Schultüte on their first day of school - a really pretty cardboard cone filled with sweets, school supplies, toys, maybe even some money. Mine was pink with little panda bears on it. This should be a first hint: If our parents have to bribe us to go there, it might not be so much fun!
#3 I have to admit I was the best student of my year at school. Yes, I know, nerd alert.
#4 The best thing about school was meeting friends and gossiping.
#5 In Germany you don't get any homework or reading assignments over the holidays. However, summer break is only six weeks.
#6 My German teacher had a striking resemblance to MacGyver. However, she was a woman.
#7 I've never once cheated on a test or copied homework. But I got kicked out of the lesson twice.
#8 I've never been to a reunion. I hope to keep it that way.
#9 My favorite teacher was my primary school teacher. She had red hair like me and she was really cool.
#10 For me, school was a really boring experience. It felt like I imagine living in a retirement home must be like. Nothing ever happens, every day is the same, the food's crappy, you have to spend every day with the same people, and you wake up every morning not remembering anything from the day before.
What are your favorite school memories? And your worst?
Have a fantastic Monday!

That lady McGuyver teacher cracks me up :)
AntwortenLöschenI think my primary school years between age 6 and 10 were the best ones. Could it be because of all that cute soviet kitsch, the red/blue school uni-smocks, and the silly pioneer songs we always seemed to be belting out? - it was the late 80s/90s in Hungary and the very end of the russian regime after all...and yes I feel veeery old even mentioning that :)
Haha number 6 is too funny!!! I sometimes still dream that all of a sudden I have to hand in a major school project and I am way behind and I don't even know what I have to do.... Crazy! And it always is a project of the ESB in Reutlingen where I studied.... it still haunts me ;)
AntwortenLöschenBwahaha, I love number 6. MacGuyver is my hero (but it might look strange on a woman). I was a nerd too ;)
AntwortenLöschenStrangely enough, she was a very good looking woman - the look seems to work on women too ;-) And even more strangely, she had none of MacGyver's skills - e.g. she once brought her remote control to our lesson to have it explained to her! ;-)
LöschenLove #4! I think that's why I went to school half the time! haha!
AntwortenLöschenI was pretty nerdy too! Though I liked school, except when I hated it, it was a very dramatic time... especially high school!
AntwortenLöschenI'd love to see a picture of MacGyver teacher!
AntwortenLöschenI was pretty studious as well. Dare I say, "nerdy"?
As with everyone else, I cried while laughing at number 6. Not only are you smart, but also quite witty haha.
AntwortenLöschenA distant memory - and certainly not the glory days of my life! I've never been to a reunion either (and plan to keep it that way) and did well enough in school without studying or trying to hard. I did go to college but while working so there wasn't much partying for me (sad)! Glad those days are behind me - but now I have to deal with my kids homework (there's no escaping it)!
AntwortenLöschenKelly
I've never been to a reunion either - what's the point, I see most of my classmates on Facebook anyway. Huge nerd alert too: I liked school, I did very well in school and I participated in so many sports and clubs so I actually had fun. The real world sucks - ha ha :)
AntwortenLöschenNever been to a reunion either! And number 10, you nailed it my friend. Great list, and I feel like in Germany or Slovenia A student is not so much nerdy as wise. I mean all we want is to get to the best University right?
AntwortenLöschenYou made it to number 10!!!!! Wooo-hooo!
AntwortenLöschenNumber 6 (MacGyver) made me laugh out loud! OMG...I was swooning because I used to love that show and him of course...then BAM...got me! Haaahaaa!
Great list!
I laughed out loud at number 6. School was traumatic for me. No, traumatic is too strong a word...I had friends and I liked my teachers well enough. But day after day of neverending boredom...it makes my chest tighten to think about it.
AntwortenLöschenFriends were definitely the best part of school. The only thing that actually got me out of bed in the morning. And yes vacation is short but there are SO many holidays in the year that we don't have in US schools.
AntwortenLöschenI love the little gift idea. Great list. Erin
AntwortenLöschenThat poor teacher! How comes you found school so boring? Was it too easy? It was quite a coincidence on the topic, hey?!
